Plumbing Tips before going on holiday

Before you leave your home -
1. Check that down pipes are not blocked.
2. Clean out the debris from gutters.
3. Flush your toilets to clear the pipes.
4. Turn off all of your taps inside the home & outside the home including washing machine taps & dishwasher.
(including garden taps and hoses).
5. Turn off your water mains at the water meter using the tap on your water meter.
6. Turn off your hot water system isolation tap.
7. Turn off the power to your electric hot water system in the power meter box.

When you return from holiday -
1. Turn on your water at the water meter.
2. Flush the toilet.
3. Run your taps for a few seconds to remove any old water from the water pipes. (Collect this water for the pot plants).
4. Turn the water back on to your hot water system.
5. Turn the power back on to your hot water system.
6. Turn the water back on to your appliances such as the washing machine & dishwasher.
