Gas Hot Water Not Working

Instant Gas Hot Water System Not Working
An instant gas hot water system would be installed outside on the wall. The older instantaneous hot water systems like Bosch are larger, but the newer type models like Rinnai, Rheem can be as small as a brief case.
Storage Gas Hot Water System Not Working
A storage hot water system will be installed outside.
Storage hot water means that it is a large tank, usually Rheem or Dux brand, sitting on the ground, holding or storing water.
Do not attempt to repair a gas hot water system.
Gas is dangerous & only an experienced & licensed gas fitter should repair or replace a gas hot water system.
Both types of gas hot water systems, either instantaneous or storage hot water systems have many working parts that can fail.

Solar Hot Water Not Working
Is your solar hot water system on the roof? This is called an on roof solar hot water system.
Is your solar hot water system on the ground with the solar panels on the roof? This is called a split system solar hot water system.
Is your solar hot water system a heat pump type hot water system?
If your tank is on the roof, then we recommend you contact a professional for advice & repairs.
Repairs to solar hot water systems is similar to an electrical hot water system.
They have a storage tank, valves & pipes with added solar panels.
Like an electrical storage hot water system, if there is water leaking from the actual tank, then it's a good chance that the system will need to be replaced.
We do not recommend only replacing the failed tank, but the panels at this time as well.
You will not be saving any money by just trying to replace the tank, and still use the old solar panels.
Like wise if the solar panels have failed, you need to replace the tank at this time as well.
Solar hot water systems have valves which fail & can cause you to have hot water not working.
We need to test the valve & check the inlet pressure to determine which & how many valves require replacing at this time.
If you have a split system solar hot water tank, then there is an added problem of the reticulation pump which can fail.
Solar hot water systems have a back up electrical booster connected to an element to heat on overcast or cooler days. It is not uncommon that your solar panels have not been working as a solar hot water system for some time & has been heating on the back up electrical system for longer than you think.
